This will depend on a few things. Such as the area you live in, how good the DJ is and how busy they are with gigs. If they have lots of gigs in their diary you might pay more.

It sure is. Nearly all DJs on our roster will have a promo mix or two on their profile. So this means you can hear their style of music before you contact for a quote. It's the perfect way to see (or hear) if their music fits your event before hiring. Club and bar DJs will mostly play music they select, but party and wedding DJs will use a playlist. So if you're event is a party or wedding, ask to see a playlist. They will more than likely take request from you too but try and ask before the night!

Make sure you always listen to a DJ mix before hiring a DJ. This is because you want to hear if their music style and mixing is perfect. All the best DJs will have an audio mix for you to listen to.
Have a look round online and see if the DJ have good reviews. This is a really good way to see if their service is highly regarded (or not).
Email and see how much notice they would need to be hired for an event. If a DJ is really popular they may well require 6 months to a years notice. The average notice is around 1 week to a month. But check first!
Be clear about what are paying for. It's easy with club and bars DJs. You're simply paying them to turn up and play a set. But for wedding and party DJs you'll need to know if the price includes lighting and sound equipment. For any type of DJ it's essential to discuss how long they will be DJing for.
Does the DJ have experience? It can be hit or miss hiring someone who has not played any live sets before. So look at their profiles and see how much experience they have. The last thing you need is problems with music on the night of your event.
