Julian Malete, known as Maleteson, is an East London-born, South West London-based DJ with a distinctive groove-led sound shaped by moody, hazy, and ambient textures. An open-format selector with a deep appreciation for musical range, he moves seamlessly across genres—blending commercial, jazz, soul, funk, disco, dance, hip-hop, and classics from the 60s through to the 80s—while consistently challenging audiences with B-side edits and unexpected selections.
With over two years of broadcasting experience across London radio, Maleteson has found a home at EXT Radio, where he delivers both immersive, late-night listening and more high-energy, dancefloor-ready sets. His versatility allows him to shift effortlessly between creating intimate, introspective moments on air and driving crowds into a trance behind the decks.
A regular presence in the South West London scene, Maleteson holds a residency at Bacchus in Kingston and collaborates closely with the Audio Grooves crew, where he explores a darker, grittier sonic palette. Alongside his DJ work, he has been a key part of the Banquet Records electronic team for over a decade, building strong roots in the local music community while expanding his reach across the UK.
Maleteson continues to take his sound nationwide, appearing as a guest DJ at club nights every two months and performing at festivals across the UK and mainland Europe. These experiences have shaped his eclectic style, drawing on a wide spectrum of influences and techniques. Currently, he is developing a DJ mix series for EXT Radio and Audio Grooves, spotlighting emerging artists he believes are ones to watch. Technically proficient and adaptable, he is comfortable across all DJ equipment and experienced in both live performance and broadcasting environments.
