19-year old music producer, DJ & songwriter with over 9 years of experience in producing, studying and analysing electronic dance- and pop music. My musical catalogue consists of solo material that has gathered over 6 million plays online, collaborations with successful artists such as Jonas Blue, Galantis en Alan Walker and remixes for other renowned names. Became one of the youngest DJ's (at the age of 15) to ever play (twice) at one of the world's most renowned festivals, Tomorrowland Belgium (Laidback Luke's 'Super You & Me' stage). I have had the pleasure to play in over 12 international countries, from venues like Tomorrowland (Belgium), Parookaville (Germany) and Echostage (Washington DC), to clubs such as Guaba (Cyprus), World (Tokyo) en HQ2 (Atlantic City), at most of them accompanying the incredibly experienced & praised DJ Laidback Luke. To add to that, I also got to do a tour in China as a support act for internationally known DJ/Producer and dance phenomenon Timmy Trumpet.
I would describe my sound as 'commercially deep/pop house'. I usually like to play a mixture of some recognisable pop records in the shape of a remix or edit, whilst adding some more unknown melodic dancefloor grooves. Melody, chords & vocal elements are key for me, regardless of the sub-genre (which is the bit that makes it a little more commercial, I think). So that expands from deep house to commercial uk house, from nu-disco to funky house and more. The threads that link my sets all together are the facts that they evolve around 125 BPM, that they contain cool basslines with melodic, poppy arrangements & familiarity because of my choices/edits of the well-known classics and hot radio stuff. I hope people identify with it, but also will be introduced to some less popular, still vibey material. Not one to go totally off-rail tho, it's always somewhere in the same bracket (house between 120-130 BPM), but I'm trying to gather as much edits from other genres so I'll be still able to fullfill people's dancefloor desires. My self-produced work as 'Mark Villa' is a bit more energetic and fierceful (leaning towards 'Future House'), and I'd be more than welcome to play songs in this category out live too if requested, but I'm otherwise likely to stretch to some deep & chill tunes that are more suited to blend into the background. Basicly very willing to change according to the occasion, as long as it's still house with a 4-to-the-floor rhythm (anything from 120 to 130 BPM), 'cause I'm not so experienced and skilled in other areas.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my (long) bio, and perhaps I'll be the guy that you're looking for!
