Emanuel Skinner was raised in Bolinas, a small remote hippy surf town just north of San Francisco. In his youth, local underground college radio DJs inspired his interest in eclectic music coming out at the time, especially the New York, Detroit and Chicago Dance music.
These early influences of techno and house music inspired his love for drum machines and synthesizers and the way the music made people want to get up and dance.
Emanuel bought his first Technics turntables in 1994, and began making mixtapes religiously. He started DJing monthly underground parties in 1996, and spent two years buying records and practicing his art form in his home studio.
In 2000, he jumped a plane with two boxes of vinyl and a one-way ticket to Thailand, to live out a dream and share his gift of music. That dream came true.
Emanuel attained near celebrity status in South East Asia for bringing the San Francisco house sound to Thailand. He has played in over thirteen countries and was a regular residencies in China, India, South Korea, Myanmar, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore, Maldives and Malaysia, and played Koh Phangan Full Moon parties. However, his home DJ turf was Bangkok & Phuket, where he lived for thirteen years.
Emanuel’s hard work and persistent attitude won numerous awards; ‘Best Bar’ three years, ‘Best Dance Club’ three consecutive years, and voted ‘Best DJ’ three years in a row by BK Magazine for his pivotal role in creating something consistent, fresh and unique.
The owners of Tapas Room took Emanuel in like family and gave him the necessary tools for artistic freedom so he could create nothing but the best.
After three and a half successful years at Tapas, he left to be part of a new emerging trend; the beginning of the supperclubs. Bed Supperclub
Bed Supperclub hired Emanuel as full-time resident DJ six days a week, and as assistant A&R responsible for artist bookings, sound consultant and events.
'Models night' became the most talked about evening in and around Asia and abroad, enjoyed by the jet set crowd, international models, locals, and expats. This partnership lasted nine years.
In 2011, Emanuel made the tropical island of Phuket home, as resident of Sri Panwa five star resort. He also regularly played numerous other residencies on the island.
